For girls safety, the government has provided new features on 112 helpline number

Emergency Helpline number 112

From September 5, the government has provided a special 112 helpline service for girls. If a girl is in danger or needs help, she can call 112 for help. The emergency team will track her location and quickly send police or other emergency services to protect her.

112 is the official emergency helpline for the entire country. It’s a single number that can be dialed for any form of emergency, including:

Police: If you are in danger or require law enforcement.

Fire Brigade: In case of a fire.

Ambulance: Used in medical emergencies.

Disaster Help: Natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes.

You do not have to remember numerous numbers, such as 100 for police, 101 for fire, and 102 for ambulance. Now, only one number, 112, controls everything.

What is SOS?

SOS is an international distress signal used to request help during emergencies. It originated as a Morse code signal but is now widely understood as a call for urgent assistance.

In today’s context, especially with smartphones, SOS can be a feature that sends a distress signal to emergency services (like the 112 helpline). On many smartphones, pressing the power button multiple times triggers an SOS alert. This sends your location and emergency details to authorities so they can provide immediate help, even if you can’t speak or make a call.

In simple terms, SOS is a quick way to ask for help when you’re in danger.

Using the SOS Feature on Your Phone.

If you’re in a dangerous situation and can’t make a phone call, many smartphones offer an SOS feature.

To send an SOS alert to 112, “most phones need press the power button three times quickly.”
This alert automatically shares your location to the authorities, allowing them to track you and send help.
Check your phone’s settings to see if this feature is enabled, so you can use it when necessary.
